William Henry Troxell (1880 - 1961)
William Henry Troxell was born on July 22, 1880 in Portage, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, the son of John A. and Barbara E. (Barnes) Troxell.
William and his two sisters grew up in Portage where their father was postmaster. On July 12, 1893 their mother died. She was just 36 years of age.
In 1899 Williams older sister Virginia died at the age of 22.
William married Emma Dolly Flynn. Dolly was born on May 15, 1886 in Portage, the daughter of William and Savannah (Green) Flynn. Dolly was Catholic, and William was Protestant.
William and Dolly had two daughters: Hazel (Troxell) Jones and Ruth Junes.
William and Dolly raised their daughters in Portage. He lived his entire life in Portage where he was a charter member of the Portage Volunteer Fire Company.
Hazel attended State Teachers College at Lock Haven, PA. After obtaining her teaching certificate, she taught in the Portage Township public school district. She married H. Raymond Jones and had one son named Raymond Troxell Jones. Hazel died on November 28, 1955 at the age of 44.
Their daughter Ruth never married and lived at home.
On February 4, 1954 Dolly died at Mercy Hospital in Johnstown, Cambria County at the age of 67.
William died on July 24, 1961 in Lee Hospital in Johnstown. He was 81.
He was survived by his daughter Ruth and grandson Raymond, who resided in Irvington, NJ.
William is buried beside his parents in Wilmore United Brethren Cemetery, Wilmore, Summerhill Twp, Cambria County, PA. Dolly is buried at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Cemetery in Summerhill Township.
