Susan (Krise) Trexler (1818 - 1900)
Susan Krise was born on October 14, 1818 in Allegheny Township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Mary Krise.
Susan was baptized at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Loretto by Father Demetrius A. Gallitzin. She was the second of her parents five children.
On May 21, 1826 Susan''s mother, Mary, died, leaving her father to take care of five young children. Her brother John A. was less than one year old.
In 1829 her father remarried to Sarah Litzinger, who was twenty years his junior. Sarah provided Susan with ten half-brothers and sisters. They raised their family on a farm in northern Allegheny Township, which became the newly formed Clearfield Township of northern Cambria County.
On June 26, 1838 Susan married Joseph Roy Trexler at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Joseph was born on February 15, 1816 in Cambria County, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Trexler, natives of Maryland. Susan was expecting their first child, John Andrew, when they were married.
Susan and Joseph were the parents of twelve children: John Andrew Trexler, James T. "Jacob" Trexler, Mary Elizabeth (Trexler) Soulsby, Margaret Ann Trexler, Thomas Trexler, Joseph Albert Trexler, Amanda Margaret Trexler, Susan Matilda (Trexler) Baker, Augustine Trexler, Martina Trexler, Catherine Amanda Trexler, and Joseph Celestine Trexler.

About 1864 their daughter Mary Elizabeth married George Soulsby. Mary gave birth an amazing 15 times but sadly 8 of her children died young. When Mary died at the age of 94 in 1936, she was survived by just 4 children. George at times worked as a miller, farmer, railroad laborer, and coal miner.
In 1880 Susan and Joseph resided in the recently formed Dean Township with their daughters Martina Krise and Matilda Baker, and four grandchildren, Mary Trexler 7, Jennie Trexler, 3, and Matilda's two young daughters, Ann, 4, and [name?], 2. It not known who Mary and Jennie's parents were.
Joseph died on January 10, 1892 at the age of 75. Susan died on January 27, 1900 near St. Augustine, Clearfield Township, Cambria County. She was age 81. She and Joseph are buried at St. Augustine Cemetery.
