Mary Ann Krise was born on December 6, 1822 in Allegheny Township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Mary Krise.

Mary Ann was baptized at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Loretto by Father Demetrius A. Gallitzin.

On May 21, 1826 Mary Ann''s mother, Mary, died, leaving her father to take care of five young children. Mary was just 3 years old, and her baby brother John was only 1. It is likely that her mother died in childbirth considering her young age and growing family.

In 1829 her father remarried to Sarah Litzinger, who was twenty years his junior. Sarah provided Mary Ann with ten half-brothers and sisters. They raised their family on a farm in northern Allegheny Township, which became the newly formed Clearfield Township of northern Cambria County.

Around 1842 Mary Ann married Jacob J. Nagle Jr. Jacob was born on May 26, 1820 in Cambria County, the son of Jacob and Mary Magdalen "Martha" (Decker) Nagle. Jacob's grandfather, Richard, was a native of Ireland and a Revolutionary War soldier.

Mary Ann and Jacob were the parents of ten children: Catherine Ellen (Nagle) Durbin, John Albert Nagle, Ann M. Nagle, Matilda Nagle, Augustine Nagle, Thomas Nagle, Francis James "Frank" Nagle, Lydia Jane "Jennie" Nagle, Mary Alice Nagle, and Jesse Luke Nagle.

Jacob was a farmer, and they raised their children on a farm in Clearfield Township.

In 1860 they resided on their farm with their 9 children.

On February 18, 1862 their oldest child, Catherine Ellen married Stephen Durbin at St. Augustine Catholic Church.

in June 1862 Mary Ann gave birth to their tenth and last child. (Mary may have had a child or two who died at birth; this is not known.)

In 1864 their son in law Stephen Durbin and their son John Albert both enlisted to fight in the Civil War. Thankfully, they both returned home safe. However, Mary Ann's nephew William H. Ryan and her half-brother Daniel Krise both died during the war, and her half-brother Henry died a couple of years after the war.

In 1868 their daughter Matilda married John Washington Neason at St. Augustine Catholic Church, and their son John Albert married Mary Catherine Dillon in Gallitzin Township.

In 1870 Mary and Jacob resided with their 6 youngest children. The fate of their daughter Ann Magdalen is not yet known.

In 1880 Mary and Jacob resided with their 4 youngest children. Augustine and Thomas were both now married.

Jacob died on August 22, 1886 at the age of 66. Mary Ann died on February 8, 1894 at the age of 71. They are buried at St. Augustine Cemetery in St. Augustine.
