Philip Shrader was born on or about January 22, 1782 in Maryland.

Anna Smith was born about 1783 in New Jersey.

It is not known where or how Philip and Anna met, but by 1803 they were married.

Philip and Anna were the parents of six children, three sons and three daughters: John Shrader, Henry Shrader, Catherine (Shrader) Anders, Solomon Shrader, Ann (Shrader) Adams, and Sophia (Shrader) Hammer.

By 1810 Philip and Ann resided in St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania. It is in this western Pennsylvanian town that they rasied their chidlren and lived out their long lives.

Philip was a farmer and a wagon maker.

In the 1832 tax assessment of St. Clair Township, Philip was assessed with 288 acres (warranted), 3 horses, 3 cows, obligation, $1,250.

Philip died on December 11, 1860 in St. Clair Township ending a marriage of over 55 years. Philip was about 78.

Ann lived another decade. It is not known when she died. The markings on her headstone are worn, and the date of her death is illegible.
