Edwin Guy Adams (1871 - 1926)

Edwin Guy Adams was born on  August 7, 1871 in Bedford County, the son of Alexander Thomas Adams and Elizabeth Bunn (Feaster) Adams.

Edwin Guy, who went by the nicknames Guy and Ed, was the oldest of eight children, seven boys and one girl. His mother was just 16 years old when she gave birth to him, and his father was 20.

He grew up in Saxton, Liberty Township, Bedford County.

Guy's father was a carpenter, and he taught Guy his trade.

On January 28, 1892 Guy married Sarah Eunicia Ritchey in Bedford County. Sarah was born on January 18, 1865 in Bedford County, the daughter of Jacob E. and Rachel (Steele) Ritchey. She was six years older then him, and it was unusual for a young man to marry an older woman at that time.

Guy and Sarah had two sons: Alvin J. Adams and Robert Bruce Adams. Alvin was born in 1895 and Bruce in 1899.

In 1910 Guy and Sarah resided with their two sons in Bellaire City, Belmont County, Ohio. He was employed as a carpenter for the steel mills.

Guy died in Bellaire City on September 10, 1926 of an intestinal obstruction, which was presumed to have been caused by cancer. He was 55.

In 1930 Sarah resided with her unmarried son Alvin in Edgewood, Allegheny County, PA. She died in 1936, presumably in Allegheny County.

Guy and Sarah are buried in Monongahela Cemetery, North Braddock, Allegheny County, PA.

Alvin never married. For a time he was a high school teacher. He later worked for the H. J. Heinz Company of Pittsburgh as a supervisor in their copy and media department. He was also an organist and Methodist church choir director.

It is thought that Bruce married and had a daughter named Judy (Adams) Krc.
