Essington Clay Gordon  (ca. 1876 - ?)

 

Essington Clay Gordon was born about 1876 in Ryot (Oak Shade or Six Roads), West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the son of Lorenzo Madden and Margaret (Adams) Gordon. Clay was the fourth of eleven children.

 


Clay grew up on a farm near her grandparents and many cousins and family members. In 1881 his grandfather Jeremiah Gordon died, and in the mid 1880s the Gordons moved to Johnstown, Cambria County.

 

Sadly, on February 1, 1893 Clay's baby brother Daniel died at the age of 3.


In 1896 Clay moved with his parents and many of his brothers and sisters to Streetsboro, Portage County, Ohio.

 

In 1900 Clay was living alone as a boarder in Streetsboro. in 1910 he was still living alone and was unmarried.

 

Clay died sometime between 1910 and 1931. He is not thought to have married.
