Nellie C. (Gordon) Ambrose (1883 - 1976) 

Nellie C. Gordon was born on December 5, 1883 in West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Lorenzo Madden and Margaret (Adams) Gordon. Nellie was the ninth of eleven children. 

Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Johnstown, Cambria County.

Sadly, on February 1, 1893 Nellie's baby brother Daniel died at the age of 3.

In 1896 she moved with her parents and many of her brothers and sisters to Streetsboro, Portage County, Ohio.

It is thought that Nellie was single in 1915 and residing in Kent, Portage County, Ohio.

Nellie married Edward A. Ambrose. They had no children. In 1930, Nellie and Edward resided in Coatesville, Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Edward died in Coatsville in 1951.

Nellie died on November 1, 1976 in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. She was 92.

Nellie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She and Edward are buried in Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, PA.
