Elizabeth "Betsy" (Adams) Jones (ca. 1777 - before 1824)Elizabeth "Betsey" Adams was born about 1777 in St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Robert Adams, a pioneer white settler of Bedford County. Her mother's name is not known, but it is thought to be Mary. Betsey was one of ten children. She grew up on her father's farm in St. Clair Township.
Around 1797 Betsey married Abel Jones.
Betsey and Abel had the following children: Mary M. (Jones) Sleek, Elizabeth (Jones) McGregor, and Thomas Jones. They probably had at least another son and daughter as well, who may have both died young, for just the three children are mentioned in their grandfather, Robert Adams's estate papers.
Betsey and Abel resided in St. Clair Township until their deaths.
Betsey and Abel both died between 1820 and 1824, or so it is thought. |
